Sometimes it's deafening, the decibel level of insanity, all across the land. Can you hear it? I wish I couldn't. But it's impossible to ignore. Sometimes it drowns out everything else. Sometimes it's all I can hear. Even when just cruising along and staying in my lane the noise swerves into me. Consumes me. Engulfs me. Sometimes.
You are SO right. The level of insanity is insane! I loved where you said even when you’re trying to stay in your lane…it encroaches. It shouts, listen to me! It waves its arms wildly exclaiming “look at me!” Hard as we try, it’s impossible to NOT be aware. Ah, but, even so, we don’t have to be consumed with it or even engage with it if we turn our heads and our ears to what IS good and wholesome and beneficial and lucid. And when we do, we’re choosing life. The world is not going to get better. It is what it is: a messy, self-absorbed place with pain and confusion and evil. But as a follower of Jesus, I can say in the midst of all the mess, it is well with my soul for He gives me peace and comfort and abundance of His love. And it’s forever. 😊
That’s a great point Sharon. Sometimes I struggle with finding myself being in a “reactionary mindset” as opposed to proactively directing my thoughts and I think that’s the key. Just have to kick the insanity out of my lane. :—) Thanks for your comment, it blessed me.
I really like it. Short, simple, powerful. The first lines hold weight and draw you in.
Sometimes it's deafening,
the decibel level of insanity,
Made me stop and think, setting the tone for the rest to flow.
I'm sure its something a lot of people relate to.
Hey Ben thanks man, feedback like that is really helpful
